AMMAN –– HE Dr. Talal Abu-Ghazaleh has paid a visit to Jordan Media City (JMC), where he discussed with its CEO, Mr. Radi Alkhas, prospects of cooperation in several fields, especially media.
The meeting focused on utilizing the various services offered by Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization (TAG-Org) and JMC.
A Memorandum of Understanding will be signed soon between both parties to include the following:
• Provision of Internet TV and radio broadcasting services for smartphones and tablets, due to the expertise of TAG-Org in "ICloud" storage and that of JMC in TV broadcasting services through various platforms
• Establishing a digital media center at a regional level
• Cooperation in the field of visual archive restoration and digital transformation
• Electronic archiving of media materials
• Sustaining closer relationship between TAG-Org and JMC in developing future projects, and accordingly, a coordinator from TAG-Org and another from JMC have been named
• Establishing specialized digital stations at JMC
• Installing a solar photovoltaic system to cut energy costs
 
During the meeting, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh stressed the importance of keeping up with the latest technological advancements in the media sector and the need to establish a specialized digital media-training center at JMC, underlining the willingness of TAG-Org to assist in this regard. He pointed out that the global trend is to broadcast different media contents on the Internet, which necessitates offering specialized training courses to staff working in media.
According to Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh, advancements in the field of technology have been exceptionally rapid, and, accordingly, there is a need to keep up with their pace. The envisioned training center should provide its services regionally, rather than limiting those to local end users, he said.
During his visit, which included a tour of the various facilities of the Media City, Abu-Ghazaleh noted that TAG-Org provides new and creative approaches in the media training sector, which will be the base for future cooperation with JMC.
Regarding Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Business & Culture Radio Station (102.7 FM), which broadcasts classical music, along with TAG-Org's news and activity updates, Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh said that the station has recently started to broadcast on the Internet.
For his part, Mr. Alkhas welcomed the visit of Dr. Abu-Ghazaleh and stressed that the partnership would entail a wide array of aspects of cooperation between TAG-Org and JMC, highlighting the "worldwide success achieved by TAG-Org, which is considered an example to follow, not only in the region, but also globally".
He pointed out that JMC operates according to international standards, harnessing the most up-to-date tools to provide its services to all clients around the world. He noted that the estate has started as well using Over-the-Top (OTT) streaming to deliver content via the Internet to mobiles for many TV stations.
JMC was launched in 2001 as the first private media city in the region with the aim of providing the regional and international media industry with state-of-the-art technologies. These services include broadcasting via satellite and the Internet, remote playout, monitoring, production, satellite teleport and anti-piracy protection, among others.
